Hello you! And welcome back, finally we are off on holiday again. It's Sunday 6th February and thankfully we are not in a rush to get anywhere so we leave around 2pm and drive down to Heathrow.
We are staying at the Premier Inn which is close to airport, of course we stop off for a Starbucks along the way, everything is going good! We arrive at the hotel and decide to have a bit of knife and fork (food) at the hotel, its then when disaster strikes I recieve a text from British Airways telling us our flight tomorrow is delayed by an hour because of a bad storm in Iceland.
Well its not that bad actually because at least we can stay in bed longer in the morning. We head off for bed to get our heads down, BTW Dexter snores BAD!

So what a day today has been, we knew the flight was delayed so headed off to the airport an hour late. We are busy getting lost looking for the meet and greet parking when I get another text from British Airways, this time cancelling our flight completely and saying there is no flight now until 9th February. It's at this moment I could have burst into tears, I'm heartbroken.
We continued into the airport and spoke to a very helpful BA person and explained our flight had been cancelled but we still wanted to go on holiday. We finally managed to book another holiday going to Jersey, covid hinded our choice our places we could go to along with visa issues etc BUT we have got another holiday! Our next flight is at 4pm, we have missed our meet and greet parking so we arrange parking at the long stay car park. The helpful BA lady also arranged for us to be allowed into the club lounge which is great as we now have a 7 hour wait.
Dexter has been dealing with it all really well its been a very long day for him. He was excited to get on the plane and apart from not overly wanting his seatbelt on enjoyed the flight (all 40 minutes of it). Around 5pm we arrive in Jersey the hotel is very nice it's the Royal Yacht hotel, tomorrow we will sort out a car and places to go. It's been a long day with highs and lows but we are on holiday and thats the main thing.

Hey ya! Today we decided to get a car so we can discover the island and what's going on. Leon goes off back to the airport to pick up the car and when he gets back we head off, with no real agenda of where we are going we take the coastal road and have a look round. We keep looking but to be honest we find nothing (and I mean nothing) of interest! Jersey probably is the most boring place we have ever been.
I suggest we head off to the war tunnels, I cant say I'm really interested in them but I'm struggling to find anything to do, when we arrive at the tunnels we find out they are closed until March! Great! I continue to search on my phone for anything to do and find an adventure play park place and we head off there, it's a great place for Dexter and theres plenty for him to do like a kinda softplay indoors and digger trucks, slides and animals outside.
We head back to the hotel and we need to find a carpark for the car, this proves to be an issue as we just can't find the one we are looking for, in the end Leon drops Dexter and me back at the hotel and goes off to find it. Just when the holiday couldn't get any worse it does, the hotel has work going on in the penthouse above us and they are sanding down the floors - yes its pretty noisey and jarring.
Happy birthday to me! YAY. Another holiday first is being away while it's my birthday. Today starts with our new routine of getting ready and heading down to breakfast, the food is good here and theres quite alot to choose from for breakfast. Today we are going to the zoo, apparently it's a very good zoo, the taxi driver who picked us up at the airport told us! We doubt its very exciting nothing is here...
To our surprise actually the zoo is very good indeed, although theres no tigers, lions and elephants, there are gorillas and plenty of other cool animals to see, Dexter seemed to really enjoy the zoo.
We leave the zoo around 1.30pm and go on the hunt for some lunch however along the way Dexter decides to have a complete melt down because he wanted a umbella from the gift shop at the zoo. His melt down continues and continues.... until we drive back to the zoo and buy one!
We finally get back to near our hotel to go and find food, I'm in the mood for sushi and find one online, after getting lost walkign around trying to find the sushi place FINALLY we find it and I go to walk in when the man came to the door to tell me they are closed, GUTTED! It's now 4pm and we settle for a mcdonalds and head back to our hotel.
After complaining about the noise last night and a couple of other things the hotel offers us a steak meal for tomorrow night and a bottle of bubbles for my birthday.
Hello, It's our last full day on the island as we will be travelling back tomorrow. Our flight is at 13.50 and its nearly an hour in flight time, we should be back home early evening unless there is unexpected delays. We are really struggling to find something to do with ourselves today so we bite the bullet and decide we will go visit a castle, also it doesn't help that it's raining :(
We head off in the car to the castle and arrive after a short drive (everywhere is a short drive here). As its raining its a good job Dexter has an umbella to take with him, he needs it! When we get up to the castle we find out it's closed as we are out of season, ARGH! We drive off and just randomly drive around looking for something to do, we found bays and beaches which is all pretty rubbish when its raining.
I did find a softplay centre near our hotel for this afternoon so we head off there. The softplay is well, softplay, not much really to say about that.
This evening we have a free steak meal from the hotel which was really nice and now we are just chilling out in the hotel room. Bye y'all! x
